The Best Loyalty Card Apps for iPhone After Stocard

In late 2024 Klarna switched off Stocard, Germany's most widely used loyalty-card app, and pushed its users into the Klarna app with a mandatory account. Many people have been looking for an independent replacement ever since. At the same time, DeutschlandCard, the country's second-largest bonus program, ends in 2026, with most of its partners having already moved to Payback. That makes it worth sorting the market afresh. Anyone who only wants to digitize cards needs a lean wallet without a forced account; anyone collecting points can hardly avoid Payback; and anyone who already has a Klarna account finds the Stocard functions carried on there. This comparison looks at the card wallets that replace the plastic in a purse and pays close attention to what happens to the purchase data behind them.
Our verdict
mobile-pocket is the best free choice here: established, offline-capable and run by an EU provider with no forced account. SuperCards is the lean German challenger, with Apple Wallet integration and locally stored data. Klarna only carries Stocard forward for people who already hold a Klarna account, while Payback remains essential wherever points are genuinely collected. The decision therefore tracks intent: digitize the card stack, or run an actual bonus program.
SuperCards digitizes loyalty cards and keeps them organized on the iPhone. A barcode scan is enough to add a card, from IKEA Family and Payback to DeutschlandCard and Rossmann, and the card can then be presented at the checkout. Two features define it here: Apple Wallet integration for quick access at the till, and a no-account model in which data stays local on the device.
The basic app is free; Pro costs about €1 a month for unlimited cards and automatic updates. It is a young German challenger with a tidy interface: less history than mobile-pocket, but quick and without ballast. It suits people with many cards who want both Apple Wallet integration and local storage, and is less of a fit for shops that accept only physical cards.
mobile-pocket has been established since 2010, works offline and comes from an Austrian provider bound by GDPR, which makes it the best free Stocard alternative in the comparison. It replaces plastic cards without a Klarna account and works at the checkout without an internet connection.
The app is free for users; the company makes its money on the B2B side, where merchants pay for loyalty programs and visibility in the card catalog and brands pay for placements in the app. It suits anyone clearing their purse of plastic or seeking an independent card app after Stocard. It is less aimed at users who want German coupon offers, which is Payback's strength.
The Klarna app officially carries the Stocard functions forward but requires a Klarna account to use them. Beyond card storage it bundles flexible payment options, cashback and savings accounts. It is free as an app; Klarna earns through merchant fees and offers instalment purchases, with interest on longer repayment periods, and the Klarna Card is also free.
It suits people who already use the payment service, want cashback for online shopping or like price comparison and delivery tracking in one place. It is a poor fit for the data-conscious and for anyone tempted by instalments to spend more than planned. As a card wallet it only really makes sense for users who are inside the Klarna ecosystem anyway.

Questions & answers
What happened to Stocard?
Klarna acquired Stocard in 2021 and switched the app off in November 2024. The card function lives on inside the Klarna app, but it requires a Klarna account. Anyone who does not want that should move to mobile-pocket or SuperCards, both of which provide independent card wallets without the mandatory account.
Can I also put loyalty cards into Apple Wallet?
Only a few retailers offer official Apple Wallet passes, so card apps remain the more practical solution for an entire stack of cards. Rather than relying on a pass per retailer, the wallet apps generate a scannable barcode for almost any card, which means even programs without official Wallet support can still be presented from the iPhone.
Are loyalty card apps a data-protection problem?
The wallet apps themselves only see which cards you store. The more sensitive part is the bonus program behind them: Payback and similar link purchases to your profile, because that is their business model. The app does not change that; it only makes the card more convenient, so the privacy question is really about which programs you choose to join.
